The production area of Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva PDO is within parts of the territory of the municipalities of Matelica, Esanatoglia, Gagliole, Castelraimondo, Camerino and Pioraco in the Province of Macerata, and parts of Cerreto d’Esi and Fabriano in the Province of Ancona, in The Marches region.

Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva PDO is soft straw-yellow; the nose reveals sensations reminiscent of ripe and candied fruit, accompanied by notes of acacia and elderflower; it is dry, persistent and warm on the palate, with an embracing almondy aftertaste. If the wine is stored in wood, the flavour might contain a light woody hint. Before being released for consumption, Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva PDO wines must be aged for a minimum period of 18 months, commencing December 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.
