History
The history of the Tsikla Chiou PDO is closely tied to that of the Masticha Chiou PDO, since it is produced with this resin. Nerveless Tskikla Chiou PDO was produced for the first time in 1957 and in some years its productions grown exponentially. Thanks to the ideation of this chewing gum recipe and the machinery to produce it, Evangelos Mendonidis, had a Patent Diploma from the Ministry of National Economy.

The father of medicine, Hippocrates, has often underlined the therapeutic properties of the resin Masticha Chiou PDO with which the Tsikla Chiou PDO is produced. Over time, usage of the Tsikla Chiou PDO has become wide-ranging and its production represents a traditional characteristic of the island of Chios.
