The production area of Zagarolo PDO is within the entire territory of the municipality of Gallicano and parts of Zagarolo, in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.
Description of product typologies
Zagarolo PDO is straw-yellow, varying in intensity; the nose is structured around notes of wild flowers, white fleshy fruit and minerals; it is fresh on the palate, with aromatic undertones, good persistence and a slightly bitter finish. It can display Superiore on the label and can also be produced as semi-sweet and semi-sweet Superiore wine. Grapes destined for the vinification of Zagarolo Protected Designation of Origin wines must ensure a minimum natural alcohol content of 11% vol. for Zagarolo PDO and 12% vol. for Zagarolo PDO Superiore. The vinification processes must take place within the production area.
