Production Area
The production area of Veneto Orientale PGI is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the provinces of Treviso and Venice, in the Veneto region.
Blends
White, red and rosé wines with the Veneto Orientale PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, from one or more grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Veneto Orientale PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow in colour, varying in depth; the nose reveals intense fruity sensations and hints of blackberry flowers; it is fresh, smooth and intense on the palate, with a fruity finish full of freshness and an acid vein enriched with white fleshy fruit. It can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling wine.Veneto Orientale PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose offers a wide range of fruity fragrances, from forest fruit to cherry and crushed grass to minerals; it is smooth, fresh and sapid on the palate, well-balanced and with a pleasantly persistent finish. It can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling and Novello wine. Veneto Orientale PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink in colour, varying in intensity; the nose reveals intense notes of cyclamen and fresh fruit, with a mineral vein; the fruity notes of the nose return on the palate in a lively and fresh wine. It can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Veneto Orientale PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the provinces of Treviso and Venice, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. In the preparation of Cabernet wine it is also possible to add, individually or combined, grapes from the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère grape varieties.Veneto Orientale PGI wines with specification of one or two grape varieties can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling; only wines obtained from red grape varieties can be produced as Novello.Veneto Orientale PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
