The production area of Valli Ossolane PDO is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Beura Cardezza, Bognanco, Crevoladossola, Crodo, Domodossola, Masera, Montecrestese, Montescheno, Pallanzeno, Piedimulera, Pieve Vergonte, Premosello, Ornavasso, Trontano, Viganella, Villadossola and Vogogna in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Valli Ossolane PDO Bianco is straw-yellow, varying in intensity; the nose is fragrant and delicate, offering fruity notes; it is dry and harmonious on the palate. Valli Ossolane PDO Rosso is intense ruby red, tending towards garnet red; the nose is extremely vinous; it is dry and harmonious on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Valli Ossolane PDO may display the following grape variety specifications. From red grape varieties: Nebbiolo (incl. Superiore): min. 85% Nebbiolo, pure or with the addition of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. Valli Ossolane PDO Nebbiolo is red, varying in intensity; the nose is fruity, fragrant and delicate; it is dry and harmonious on the palate. It can display Superiore on the label. Valli Ossolane PDO Nebbiolo Superiore wines must be aged for a minimum period of 13 months, of which 6 months must be in wooden recipients; the ageing period commences November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested.
