The production area of Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Monte San Biagio, Terracina and Sonnino in the Province of Latina, in the Lazio region.
Description of product typologies
Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Bianco (Dry) is luminous straw-yellow with golden reflections; the nose is varietal and aromatic, revealing a series of aromas of exotic fruit, citrus fruit and medicinal herbs; it is fresh, minerally and sapid on the palate. It can also be produced as a semi-sweet wine. Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Spumante is soft straw-yellow and has a fine, persistent perlage; the bouquet is rich with fruit and yeasts, with traces of honey-based cakes; it is aromatic and well-balanced on the palate, with a characteristic finish. Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Passito is golden yellow, enriched with amber reflections; the nose reveals notes of ripe and dried fruit and traces of pastries and honey; it is smooth and embracing on the palate, with a persistent finish. Grapes destined for the production of Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Passito wines must have been dried on the vines or immediately after harvesting in suitable environments (on trellises or matting), in order to ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 15.5% vol. Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Spumante wines must be obtained exclusively through the fermentation of musts in autoclaves, and must remain on the lees for at least one month; the entire process must last for a minimum of three months.
