The production area of Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Monte San Biagio, Terracina and Sonnino in the Province of Latina, in the Lazio region.
Blends
White (Dry, Semi-Sweet, Passito): min. 85% Moscato diTerracina, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.Spumante (Dry or Sweet): 100% Moscato di Terracina.
Description of product typologies
Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Bianco (Dry) has a luminous straw-yellow colour and golden highlights; the nose is varietal and aromatic with aromas of exotic fruit, citrus fruit and medicinal herbs; it is fresh, mineral and sapid on the palate. It can also be produced as Semi-Sweet wine.Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Spumante is characterised by a smooth straw-yellow colour and a fine and persistent perlage; the nose is rich with fruit and yeasts, with reminiscences of honey-based cakes; it is aromatic and well-balanced on the palate, with a characteristic finish. Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Passito has a golden yellow colour enriched with amber highlights; the nose reveals notes of ripe and dried fruit and reminiscences of pastries and honey; it is smooth and embracing on the palate, with a persistent finish. Grapes destined for the production of Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Passito wine must have been dried on the vines or immediately after harvesting (on trellises or straw mats) in suitable environments, in order to ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 15,5%.Terracina PDO or Moscato di Terracina PDO Spumante must be obtained exclusively through fermentation of musts in autoclaves and must remain on the lees for at least one month; the elaboration process must last for a minimum of three months.
