Production Area
The production area of Scavigna PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Nocera Terinese and Falerna in the Province of Catanzaro, in the Calabria region.
Blends
White: max. 50% aromatic Traminer, max. 30% Chardonnay, max. 10% Pinot Bianco, max. 10% Riesling Italico, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 45%. Red, Rosé: max. 60% Aglianico, max. 20% Magliocco, max. 20% Marcigliana Nera, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 45%.
Description of product typologies
Scavigna PDO Bianco is straw-yellow to greenish-yellow in colour; the nose offers sensations of white flowers such as hawthorn and jasmine, with fruity notes of white peach and green apple accompanied by aromatic, Mediterranean herb and mineral notes; the palate is complex with sapidity and minerality on a fruity background. Scavigna PDO Rosso is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose displays floral fragrances intertwined with notes of cherry and blackberry and followed by cocoa and sweet spices; the tannic vein of the palate embraces fruity and spicy sensations that are supported by acidity. Scavigna PDO Rosé displays chromatic hues, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with extremely fresh fruity notes; it is harmoniously structured on the palate, with balance between body and acidity and a sapid finish dense with fruit.Scavigna PDO Bianco, Scavigna PDO Rosso and Scavigna PDO Rosé cannot be made available for consumption before January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.
