Description of product typologies
Rosso di Montalcino PDO is ruby-red in colour; the intense and fragrant nose reveals aromas of red fruit and spices, with notes of chocolate and mineral hints; it is harmoniously dry and fresh on the palate, full-bodied and with light tannins and a good aromatic finish. Rosso di Montalcino PDO wines cannot be made available for consumption before September 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.The vinification, preservation and bottling processes must be carried out within the production area.

The Rosso di Montalcino PDO can be followed by the mention Vigna or Vigneto (Vineyard) with the relative toponym. Indications designed to specify the farming activity of the bottlers are permitted, such as Viticoltore (Winemaker), Fattoria (Farm), Tenuta (Holding), Podere (Small Farm) and other similar terms, in compliance with current provisions.
