The production area of Ronchi di Brescia PGI is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Brescia Botticino, Cellatica, Rezzato, Nuvolera, Nuvolento, Concesio, Collebeato, Villa Carcina, Bovezzo, Nave and Caino in the Province of Brescia, in the Lombardy region.
Description of product typologies
Ronchi di Brescia PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow in colour, varying in depth; the nose is rich with floral notes of woodland flowers and broom, with undertones of grasses, ripe and white fruit; it is intense, fresh, sapid and pleasantly fruity on the palate, with sensations of petals and a mineral note on the long and persistent finish. It can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling wine. Ronchi di Brescia PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour with garnet highlights; the nose offers dense fruity undertones of blackcurrant, small fruit, pepper and aromatic herbs; it is dry, sapid, full-bodied and pleasantly tannic on the palate, with a long aftertaste of ripe fruit. Ronchi di Brescia PGI Passito, alone or with specification of grape variety, has a straw-yellow colour with golden highlights; the nose is intense, and complex with pleasing fruity notes; it is sweet, smooth, harmonious and velvety on the palate.Ronchi di Brescia PGI Novello, alone or with specification of grape variety, is bright ruby-red in colour, at times with purple highlights; the nose bursts with fruity and characteristic notes which highlight the pleasantness of this wine; it is well-balanced, fresh and pleasing on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Ronchi di Brescia PGI, with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lombardy region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, individually or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. Ronchi di Brescia PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
