The Rodakina Naoussas PDO is a peach obtained from the cultivation of the varieties May Crest, Spring Crest, June Gold, Dixired, Red Haven, Maria Bianca, Sun Cloud, Flavor Crest, Sun Crest, J.H. Hale, Honey Dew Hale, Tardiva di Naoussa and Loring.
Production Area
The production area of the Rodakina Naoussas PDO is in the areas of Karaida, Tsifliki, Strandza, Mandemi, Gastra, Smixi, Isvoria, Blana, Stylos, Galatsianos, Pallokalia, Koukouli, Baltaneto, Kouticha, Dalamari; the production region is limited by the administrative boundaries of the municipal areas of Arkochori, Stenimachos, Kopanos, Lefkadia, Marina, Giannakochori and Rodochori.
Production Method
The cultivation techniques and the pruning are systematic and are executed following indications of the local agronomists of the Ministry of Agriculture. The recovery from possible diseases and the fight against damaging organisms take place according to the indications of the Ministry of Agriculture, with the use of mild plant protection products. Harvesting takes place gradually in four or five stages, after checking the ripeness degree of the fruits. Once collected, the controlled and packaged product is transferred to the agricultural cooperative's modern plants.
Appearance and Flavour
The Rodakina Naoussas PDO is an excellent quality peach; the fruits have a medium to large size, have a red colour, with a juicy, tasty, scented and fine pulp.
History
The history of the Rodakina Naoussas PDO is linked to the systematic peach-growing, practiced exclusively in the delimited geographic area since 1927. This peach's cultivation uses modern techniques, applied under continuous surveillance of the local agronomists of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The product is sold as Rodakina Naoussas PDO. It is marketed in packages carrying the control data on the label: two letters for the production place, a progressive number of the package and the last two digits indicating the production year (e.g., Na-1020-08).

The climatic characteristics of the area situated on the eastern side of the Vermion mountains, along with the fertility of the soil, which is rich in organic substances, and the abundance in water, lend the Rodakina Naoussas PDO the particular qualities that differentiate it from other peaches produced elsewhere.
