The production area of Recioto di Gambellara PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Gambellara, Montebello Vicentino, Montorso Vicentino and Zermeghedo in the Province of Vicenza, in the Veneto region.
Description of product typologies
Recioto di Gambellara PDO Classico (Sweet) ranges from straw-yellow to golden yellow, varying in intensity and at times with amber hues; the nose is displays concentrated notes of syrupy apricot, dates, candied orange peel and honey; the sweet flavour is balanced by good sapidity and structure. Recioto di Gambellara PDO Spumante ranges from straw-yellow to golden yellow and has a fine, persistent perlage; the nose reveals delicate fruity fragrances such as white peach and apricot; it is velvety and harmonious on the palate, with faint traces of vanilla. Grapes destined for the production of Recioto di Gambellara PDO Classico wine can dried with the aid of air-conditioning systems, on the condition that they operate at a similar temperature to that found during traditional drying processes. Recioto di Gambellara PDO Classico cannot be released for consumption before September 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. All operations carried out during the production of Recioto di Gambellara PDO Spumante wines must take place in locations situated within the territory of the Veneto region.
