The production area of Nuragus di Cagliari PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the provinces of Cagliari, Sud Sardegna and Oristano, in the Sardinia region.
White (including Semi-Sparkling): min. 85% Nuragus, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.
Description of product typologies
Nuragus di Cagliari PDO is straw-yellow in colour, varying in intensity; the nose offers a light and pleasing bouquet with fragrances of green apple and hawthorn and delicate citrusy notes; it is smooth, pleasantly fresh and light-bodied on the palate, with an acidity that highlights the fruity notes of the nose. It can also be produced as a Frizzante (Semi-Sparkling) wine.Grapes destined for the vinification of Nuragus di Cagliari PDO wines must ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 10% for Nuragus di Cagliari PDO wines and 9% for Nuragus di Cagliari PDO Frizzante wines.
The geographic name “Sardegna” (Sardinia) may precede the Nuragus di Cagliari PDO designation, as provided for by ministerial decree.
