Description of product typologies
Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO Rosso is ruby-red in colour, tending towards garnet with aging; the nose offers a blend of fruity raspberry, geranium, wild strawberry and the ethereal and spicy fragrances of cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa powder; it is dry, structured and sapid on the palate, with significant tannins and a fruity finish. It can also display Superiore on the label.Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO Spumante Rosso is ruby-red in colour, at times tending towards garnet, and has fine and persistent foam; the nose is complex, fruity and dense, with hints of yeast and bread crust; it is dry, semi-sweet and well-structured on the palate. Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO Spumante Rosé pink in colour, varying in intensity, and has a fine and persistent perlage; the nose offers a wide range of summer red fruit aromas and is enriched by complex and dense notes; perceptions of strawberry and red apple are in harmony with the alcoholic structure on the palate. Both the “Martinotti” and “Classico” methods can be used in the production of Nebbiolo d’Alba Spumante and Nebbiolo d’Alba Spumante Rosè PDO wines.The mandatory aging period for Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO wines is 12 months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were picked, and 18 months for Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO Superiore wines, of which at least 6 months must be in wood; Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO wine can be made available for consumption from November 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were picked and Superiore wines from May 1st of the second year following that in which the grapes were picked. Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO Spumante and Nebbiolo d’Alba PDO Spumante Rosè wines must be aged for six months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested. They cannot be made available for consumption before May 1st of the year following that of the grape harvest.
