The production area of Moscadello di Montalcino PDO is within the entire territory of the Municipality of Montalcino in the Province of Siena, in the Tuscany region.

White (incl. Semi-Sparkling), Late Harvest: Moscato Bianco, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.
Description of product typologies
Moscadello di Montalcino PDO Tranquillo is straw-yellow in colour; the nose is fresh, delicate and persistent with the typical aroma of Moscato Bianco; it is sweet and harmonious on the palate. Moscadello di Montalcino PDO Frizzante has a smooth straw-yellow colour, with fine and lively foam; the nose is fresh, delicate and persistent with an aroma typical of the White Muscat grape; it is sweet and harmonious on the palate. Moscadello di Montalcino PDO Vendemmia Tardiva varies from straw-yellow to golden-yellow in colour; the range of aromas on the nose are rich with floral notes and reminiscent hints of dried fruit; it dry, fresh and velvety on the palate. Moscadello di Montalcino PDO Frizzante wine must be obtained through natural fermentation.Moscadello di Montalcino PDO Vendemmia Tardiva wine must be matured for at least one year, commencing January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. The wine cannot be made available for consumption before January 1st of the second year following that in which the grapes were harvested. Slow fermentation in the winter months may be used during the maturing period.
