The production area of Montello Rosso PDO or Montello PDO is within the entire territory of 3 municipalities and parts of the territory of 16 municipalities in the Province of Treviso, in the Veneto region.
Description of product typologies
Montello Rosso PDO or Montello PDO Rosso is ruby red, tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose is complex, ranging from fruity fragrances of raspberry to cocoa, from spiciness to sweet vanilla, and from the complexity of coffee to blackcurrant; it is full and ample on the palate, with dense sweet tannins, a robust texture and long aromatic persistence. It can display Superiore on the label. Montello Rosso PDO or Montello PDO wines must be matured for at least 18 months, with at least 9 months in oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle; Montello Rosso PDO or Montello PDO Superiore wines must be matured for a minimum of 24 months, of which at least 12 months must be in oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle. The maturation period commences November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.
