The Lison-Pramaggiore PDO is reserved for the following typologies of wine: White, Red and Spumante; White Passito, Red Passito (only with indication of grape variety). The Designation also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.
Production Area
The production area of Lison-Pramaggiore PDO is within the territory of many municipalities in the Province of Pordenone, Friuli Venezia Giulia region; in the provinces of Venice and Treviso, Veneto region.
Blends
White: min. 50% Tocai friulano, pure or with grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the region, max. 50%, excluding Moscato grape varieties. Red (incl. Riserva): min. 50% Merlot, pure or with grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 50%. Spumante: Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco or Pinot Nero.
Description of product typologies
Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Bianco is intense straw-yellow in colour, with greenish or golden highlights; the nose bursts with fruity notes and hints of jasmine and hazelnut; the palate displays hints of wood, harmoniously accompanied by a dry and sometimes smooth flavour. Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Bianco wine can be put on the market from January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Rosso has an intense ruby-red colour, tending towards garnet with aging; the nose bursts with a vinous aroma, characterised by persistent hints of raspberry, blackberry and notes of wood and spices; the sensations of the nose blend with a dry and harmonious flavour on the palate. It can display Riserva on the label. Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Rosso wines can be put on the market after January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced; Riserva wines not before November 1st of the second year following that in which the grapes were produced. Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Spumante is straw-yellow in colour, with a fine and persistent perlage; the nose offers fruity sensations of apple and pear with a persistent, salty finish; the palate displays sapidity and freshness. Gasification must be carried out with natural fermentation. Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Passito Bianco and Passito Rosso wines can be put on the market after November 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.
Grape variety specifications
The Lison-Pramaggiore PDO may display the specifications of the following grape varieties. From white grape varieties: min. 85% Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio (for the Province of Pordenone), Sauvignon, Verduzzo (Friulano and/or Trevigiano, incl. Passito), pure or with grapes similar in colour and originating from other varieties suitable for cultivation in the region, max. 15%. From red grape varieties: min. 85% Merlot (incl. Riserva), Cabernet (Franc, Sauvignon or Carmenère), Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, Malbech, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso (incl. Riserva, Passito), pure or with grapes similar in colour and originating from other varieties suitable for cultivation in the region, max. 15%. The characteristics of the colour, fragrances and flavour of each specification are those typical of the grape variety and terroir of origin. The vinification of the grapes destined for the production of Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso Passito and Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Verduzzo Passito can take place after the grapes have dried naturally or with the aid of environmental conditioning systems, on the condition that they operate at a similar temperature as that found during traditional drying processes. The dried grapes cannot be pressed before December 8th. Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Chardonnay, Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Pinot Grigio, Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Sauvignon and Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Verduzzo wines can be put on the market from February 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced; not before March 1st for Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Cabernet (including Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon), Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Merlot, Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Malbech, Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Refosco dal Peduncolo rosso and Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Carmenère wines; Riserva wines from November 1st of the second year following that in which the grapes were produced. Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso Passito and Lison-Pramaggiore PDO Verduzzo Passito wines are available for consumption 12 months, from November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced. For wines produced in varietal purity it is allowed the addition of musts or wines belonging to the same denomination max. 15%.
