Production Method
The cultivation of the Kerassia Tragana Rodochoriou PDO is strongly influenced by the specific climatic conditions of the production area and follows a particular cultivation method. The terrain surrounding the trees remains untilled, limited to periodic grass cutting, as far as manual intervention is concerned; the irrigation is natural, i.e., exploiting precipitations; the fight against damaging organisms and diseases is done, when necessary, using mild plant protection products and the pruning is done after harvesting or late in the springtime. The gathering of the cherries takes place manually and it extends from mid-June through to the end of July. Once collected, the product is selected, packaged and preserved in modern refrigerating plants of the cooperative.

The Kerassia Tragana Rodochoriou PDO is of excellent quality, is medium-large in size, has an intense red colour and a juicy, crunchy, tasty and very compact pulp. Its characteristics are resistance, which is where the name Tragana derives from, and long preservation.
