The Greco di Bianco PDO is reserved exclusively for White Passito wine.
The production area of Greco di Bianco PDO is within the territory of the Municipality of Bianco and parts of the Municipality of Casignana, in the Province of Reggio Calabria, in the Calabria region.
White Passito: min. 95% Greco Bianco, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 5%.
Description of product typologies
Greco di Bianco PDO is straw-yellow in colour with amber highlights; the nose is embracing and intense, with floral notes reminiscent of orange blossom and lily and fruity hints which alternate between dried fig, date, candied orange and citron and smooth notes of vanilla; it is smooth and warm on the palate, with an embracing sensation of honey, fig and almond in the long finish.The harvested grapes used for the production of Greco di Bianco PDO must be dried on trellises in the sun or with forced air, after which they must be treaded and pressed. Greco di Bianco PDO cannot be made available for consumption before November 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.
