Production Area
The production area of the Gravina PDO is within the entire administrative territory of the municipalities of Gravina in Puglia and Poggiorsini and parts of Altamura, in the Province of Bari, and part of the territory of Spinazzola in the Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, in the Apulia region.
Description of product typologies
Gravina PDO Bianco is straw-yellow to greenish-yellow; the nose offers notes of ripe fruit, yellow peach, nectarine, citrus fruit, almond and candied-fruit; it is dry and decisive on the palate, with well-balanced acidity and freshness. Gravina PDO Rosso is ruby red; fragrances of small red fruit alternate with spices, tobacco and chocolate; it is warm, rounded and harmonious on the palate. Gravina PDO Rosato is bright pink; the nose is characteristic, pleasant and fruity; it is dry, fresh and sapid on the palate, with harmonious and delicate minerally notes. Gravina PDO Spumante is pale straw-yellow with a fine and persistent perlage; the intense fragrances of fruit, citrus and almond blend with sensations of bread crust; it is lively and harmonious on the palate. Gravina PDO Passito is a beautiful amber colour; the nose offers evident fragrances of dehydrated fruit, apricot and honey with traces of minerals; it is sweet, embracing and complex on the palate. Grapes destined for the production of Gravina PDO Passito must be dried slightly to ensure that they reach a minimum reduced sugar content of no less than 23%.
