Production Area
The production area of Galluccio PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Conca della Campania, Galluccio, Mignano Monte Lungo, Rocca d’Evandro, Tora and Piccilli in the Province of Caserta, in the Campania region.
Blends
White: min. 70% Falanghina, pure or with the addition of non-aromatic grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 30%.Red, Rosé: min. 70% Aglianico, pure or with the addition of non-aromatic grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 30%.
Description of product typologies
Galluccio PDO Bianco is straw-yellow in colour, varying in intensity; the nose displays strong fragrances of acacia flowers and broom, with fruity notes of green pear, grapefruit and white pepper; it is fresh on the palate with an intense structure and a finish of dried fruit.Galluccio PDO Rosso is dark ruby-red in colour, tending toward garnet with aging; the nose alternates between fruity sensations of marasca cherry, sweet spices and pansies; warm and smooth notes blend with sweet tannins leading to a persistent finish of red fruit. It can display Riserva on the label. Galluccio PDO Rosso cannot be made available for consumption before June 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. Galluccio PDO Rosé is pink in colour, varying in intensity; the nose bursts with delicate fruity notes with hints of Dog rose and carnation; it is dry, fragrant and well-balanced on the palate, with pleasant acidity.
