The Delle Venezie PDO (“Beneških okolišev” in Slovenian) is reserved for the following types of wine: White; Pinot Grigio or Pinot Grigio Rosé or Ramato (grape variety specification); Semi- Sparkling Pinot Grigio or Pinot Grigio Rosé or Ramato (grape variety specification); Spumante Pinot Grigio or Pinot Grigio Rosé or Ramato (grape variety specification).
Production Area
The production area of delle Venezie PDO is within the entire territory of the autonomous Province of Trento and the regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto.
Description of product typologies
Delle Venezie PDO Bianco varies from greenish yellow to golden yellow; it is intense and slightly aromatic on the nose, with fruity notes; the flavour is dry and harmonious.
Grape variety specifications
The Delle Venezie PDO may display the following grape variety specifications. From white grape varieties: Pinot Grigio or Pinot Grigio Rosato or Ramato (incl. Semi-Sparkling and Spumante), minimum 85% Pinot Grigio, pure or with the addition of grapes originating from the Pinot Bianco, Muller Thurgau, Garganega, Verduzzo (from Verduzzo Friulano and/or Verduzzo Trevigiano) and Tocai Friulano grape varieties, max. 15%. Delle Venezie PDO Pinot Grigio or Pinot Grigio Rosato or Ramato is straw-yellow to golden yellow, at times coppery or even pink; the nose is intense and fruity, slightly aromatic; it is fresh dry or mouth-filling on the palate. Delle Venezie PDO Pinot Grigio or Pinot Grigio Rosato or Ramato Frizzante is straw-yellow to golden yellow, at times coppery or pink, with fine, evanescent foam; it is fruity and slightly aromatic the nose; the flavour is fresh, harmonious and dry, at times mouth-filling. Delle Venezie PDO Pinot Grigio or Pinot Grigio Rosato or Ramato Spumante is straw-yellow or golden yellow, tending towards coppery or pink, with a fine, persistent perlage; it is fruity, intense and aromatic on the nose; it is fresh on the palate, harmonious in the wines ranging from dosaggio zero (no added sugar) to dry. The term Rosé can be used for the Rosato or Ramato wines.
