Description of product typologies
Contea di Sclafani PDO or Valledolmo-Contea di Sclafani PDO Bianco is straw-yellow, varying in intensity, with greenish reflections; the nose bursts with notes of tropical fruit, apple and flint; it is harmonious, dry and sapid on the palate, with a citrusy finish. Contea di Sclafani PDO or Valledolmo-Contea di Sclafani PDO Bianco Riserva is straw-yellow, varying in intensity, at times with greenish reflections; it is pleasant, light and elegant on the nose; harmonious, characteristic and sapid on the palate. Contea di Sclafani PDO or Valledolmo-Contea di Sclafani PDO Rosso is ruby red, varying in intensity, at times with purplish reflections; the nose offers evident undertones of violet and blackberry, at times spicy notes, arriving at sensations of wet soil and Mediterranean scrub; it is predominantly warm on the palate, supported by intense freshness rounded with complex tannins. Contea di Sclafani PDO or Valledolmo-Contea di Sclafani PDO Rosso Riserva ranges from dark ruby red to garnet red with ageing; the nose is intense, fruity and at times spicy; it is dry, characteristic and well-structured on the palate. Contea di Sclafani PDO or Valledolmo-Contea di Sclafani PDO Vendemmia Tardiva Bianco ranges from straw-yellow to golden yellow; the nose is characteristic and persistent; it is harmonious on the palate, ranging from dry to sweet. Contea di Sclafani PDO or Valledolmo-Contea di Sclafani PDO Vendemmia Tardiva Rosso is dark ruby red, tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose is light and persistent; it is characteristic on the palate, ranging from sweet to dry. It must be produced with grapes that have been dried on the vines and vinified in wooden recipients, as well as undergone a maturing period of at least six months in wooden vats with a maximum capacity of 500 litres. The grapes cannot be picked before October 1st. The wine can only be released for consumption 18 months after November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested.
