Production Area
The production area of Colli di Luni PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of La Spezia, in the Liguria region, and in the Province of Massa-Carrara, in the Tuscany region.
Blends
White: min. 35% Vermentino, 25%-40% Trebbiano Toscano, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 30%. Red (Riserva): min. 50% Sangiovese, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 50%.
Description of product typologies
Colli di Luni PDO Bianco is straw-yellow in colour; it offers a pleasantly delicate floral fragrance on the nose, with fruity notes of white fleshy fruit; it is dry and harmonious on the palate, with sapid, delicately mineral and fruity returns. Colli di Luni PDO Rosso is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity and tending towards garnet with aging; the nose is delicate and vinous, structured and with well-expressed tannins; it is dry, fine and harmonious on the palate. It may display Riserva on the label if the wine has been aged for at least 2 years, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.
Grape variety specifications
The Colli di Luni PDO may display the specifications of the following grape varieties. From white grape varieties: min. 90% Vermentino (incl. Superiore), min. 85% Albarola, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 10-15%.The characteristics of the colour, fragrances and flavour of each specification are those typical of the grape variety and terroir of origin.
