The production area of Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Perugia, in the Umbria region.
Blends
White (incl. Semi-Sparkling), Vino Santo or Vin Santo: min. 40% Trebbiano Toscano, min. 30% Grechetto and/or Pinot Bianco and/or Chardonnay and/or Pinot Grigio, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 30%.Red (incl. Semi-Sparkling, Riserva), Rosé, Novello: min. 40% Sangiovese, min. 30% Ciliegiolo and/or Gamay and/or Merlot and/or Cabernet, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 30%.Selected White: min. 85% Vermentino and/or Grechetto and/or Chardonnay and/or Pinot Bianco and/or Pinot Grigio and/or Sauvignon and/or Riesling Italico, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.Selected Red: min. 70% Gamay and/or Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Pinot Nero and/or Merlot, min. 15% Sangiovese, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.White Spumante Classic Method: min. 70% Chardonnay and/or Pinot Nero and/or Pinot Bianco and/or Pinot Grigio and/or Grechetto, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 30%. Description of product typologies
Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Bianco has a straw-yellow colour that can vary with greenish tones; the nose detects wisteria flower and ripe fruit; it is fresh and predominately sapid on the palate. It can be a Semi-Sparkling wine and can display Scelto (selected) on the label. Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Rosso has a ruby-red colour, varying in intensity; the tones of red fruit are supported by good minerality on the nose; acidity and freshness are accompanied by fruity and tertiary reminiscences on the palate. It can be a Semi-Sparkling wine. It may display Scelto or Riserva on the label if the wine has undergone an aging period of at least 24 months, at least 4 months of which must be in wooden barrels, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Rosé is pink in colour, varying in intensity; it is fruity and vinous on the nose; it is fresh, lively, dry and harmonious on the palate.Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Spumante Bianco is straw-yellow in colour, varying in intensity, with a fine-grain and persistent foam; the nose displays pleasing and characteristic fragrances; on the palate it is dry and harmonious.Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Spumante Rosé is pink in colour, varying in intensity, with a fine-grain and persistent perlage; the nose displays pleasing and characteristic fragrances; it is dry and harmonious on the palate. Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Vino Santo or Vin Santo straw-yellow to amber-yellow colour, with golden reflections; it is ethereal, intense and typical on the nose, with sweet and buttery tones; it is harmonious, persistent and typical on the palate. Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Novello is lively cherry-red in colour; it is fresh and characteristic on the nose, with fruity notes; the fruity notes return on the palate together with a remarkable vivacity. Grapes destined for the production of Vino Santo or Vin Santo must undergo a drying period that can last up until March 30th of the year following that in which the grapes were produced and they cannot be vinified before December 10th of the year in which the grapes were produced.Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Rosso, Rosé and Bianco (Scelto) wines can be made available for consumption from March 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.

From white grape varieties: min. 85% Grechetto, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.From red grape varieties (incl. Riserva): min. 85% Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.The characteristics of the colour, fragrances and flavour of each specification are those typical of the grape variety and terroir of origin. Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Grechetto, Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Merlot, Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Cabernet Sauvignon and Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Gamay wines can be made available for consumption from March 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Merlot, Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Cabernet Sauvignon and Colli del Trasimeno PDO or Trasimeno PDO Gamay qualify as Riserva wines if they have undergone an aging period of at least 24 months, at least 4 months of which must be in wooden barrels, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.
