Production Area
The production area of Colli Albani PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Ariccia and Albano and parts of Pomezia, Ardea, Castelgandolfo and Lanuvio in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.
Blends
White (incl. Spumante, Novello): max. 60% Malvasia Bianca di Candia (locally known as Malvasia Rossa), 25-50% Trebbiano Toscano and/or Romagnolo and/or Giallo and/or Soave, 5-45% Malvasia del Lazio or Puntinata, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 10%, excluding grapes from the Muscat variety.
Description of product typologies
Colli Albani PDO Bianco is straw to golden-yellow in colour; the nose suggests tones of peach flower, jasmine, exotic fruit and camomile; a racy flavour chases fruity sensations on the palate. It can also be Spumante or Novello wine, with organoleptic characteristics similar to those of the base wine. It may display Superiore on the label.The vinification processes must be carried out with the production area and the elaboration processes of musts or wines destined for the production of Spumante must take place in locations situated within the Province of Rome. Colli Albani PDO Novello must be bottled by December 20th of the year in which the grapes were produced.
