The production area of Cesanese di Affile PDO or Affile PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Affile and Roiate and part of Arcinazzo, in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.
Blends
Red (including Sweet, Riserva): min. 90% Cesanese di Affile, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 10%.
Description of product typologies
Cesanese di Affile PDO or Affile PDO is ruby-red in colour with purple reflections, tending towards garnet with aging; it is delicate and characteristic of the grape variety on the nose; it offers dry, slightly bitter and harmonious flavours on the palate. It can also be a Sweet wine and may display Riserva on the label if it has undergone an aging period of at least 24 months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced, with at least 6 of those months maturing in bottles.Cesanese di Affile PDO or Affile PDO cannot be made available for consumption before July 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were harvested.
