The production area of Cesanese di Affile PDO or Affile PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Affile and Roiate and part of Arcinazzo, in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.
Description of product typologies
Cesanese di Affile PDO or Affile PDO is ruby red with purple reflections, tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose is delicate and characteristic of the grape variety; it is dry, slightly bitter and harmonious on the palate. It can also be a sweet wine and may display Riserva on the label if it has undergone an ageing period of at least 24 months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced, with at least 6 of those months maturing in the bottle. Cesanese di Affile PDO or Affile PDO cannot be released for consumption before July 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were harvested.
