Description of product typologies
Carmignano PDO is intense ruby-red in colour; vegetal notes and spicy reminiscences on the nose are accompanied by aromas of pansy, violet, cherry and prune, finishing with a slight hint of brushwood; a robust tannic vein and dense fruit, supported by freshness, wed in progressive linearity, harmony and elegance, leading to a long finish. It can display Riserva on the label if the wine is made available for consumption from September 29th (St Michael’s day and festival of Carmignano) of the third year after that in which the grapes were produced. The vinification and mandatory aging processes of Carmignano PDO wine must be carried out within the production area; the aging period must be of at least one year, in oak or chestnut barrels.
