Production Area
The production area of Capri PDO is within the entire territory of the island of Capri, in the Province of Naples, in the Campania region.
Description of product typologies
Capri PDO Bianco is intense yellow with golden reflections; the nose displays fragrances of acacia flowers, with fruity notes of yellow melon, peach and apple; it is ample and rich on the palate, with a tart undertone and a long, persistent finish. Capri PDO Rosso is intense ruby red; the fragrances cover a wide olfactory span, ranging from very ripe red fruit to cocoa and spices; it is dense and consistent on the palate, with significant sapidity, tight tannins and a strong fruity finish. Grapes destined for the vinification of Capri PDO wines must ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 10.5% vol. for Capri PDO Bianco and 11% vol. for Capri PDO Rosso. The vinification processes must take place within the production area; however, they may also be carried out in Province of Naples.
