The production area of Cannellino di Frascati PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Frascati, Grottaferrata, Monte Porzio Catone, and parts of Rome and Montecompatri, in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.
Blends
White: min. 70% Malvasia Bianca di Candia and/or Malvasia del Lazio (Malvasia Puntinata), max. 30% Trebbiano Toscano and/or Trebbiano Giallo and/or Greco Bianco and/or Bellone and/or Bombino Bianco, pure or with the addition of grape berries of similar colour, originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.
Description of product typologies
Cannellino di Frascati PDO is intense golden yellow in colour; the nose displays typical fragrances of ripe fruit, in particular peach, apricot, pear and apple, with additional hints of honey accentuating its personality as a supple wine; the attack is smooth on the palate, with a moderately tart evolution, slightly bitter finish, and excellent balance.Grapes destined for the production of Cannellino di Frascati PDO wine must have a minimum natural alcohol level of 12%.Vinification must take place within the production area of the grapes; however, taking into consideration local needs linked to urbanisation and the safeguarding of existing local traditions, vinification may also take place in parts of the municipality of Montecompatri.
