Grape variety specifications
The Campidano di Terralba PDO or Terralba PDO may display the following grape variety specifications. From red grape varieties: Bovale (incl. Riserva, Superiore): minimum 85% Bovale (Bovaleddu) and/or Bovale Grande (Bovale di Spagna), pure or with the addition of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, maximum 15%. Campidano di Terralba PDO or Terralba PDO Bovale is various shades of pale ruby-red, more intense with ageing; the nose exhibits notes of ripe fruit, prune, jam, leather and faint balsamic notes; it is dry, sapid and warm on the palate, with the fruitiness of the nose returning. Campidano di Terralba PDO or Terralba PDO Bovale and Campidano di Terralba PDO or Terralba PDO Bovale Superiore cannot be released for consumption before March 31st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. For the Riserva wine, there is a mandatory ageing period of at least 2 years, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.
