The Campania PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, White Passito, Red Passito, Rosé Passito, White Liqueur, Red Liqueur, Red Novello and Rosé Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

Description of product typologies
Campania PGI Bianco, alone or with the specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow, varying in depth; it is varying degrees of floral and fruity on the nose, depending on the grape variety; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with a slightly fruity flavour and good persistence. It can also be a semi-sparkling or Passito wine. Campania PGI Rosso is ruby-red, varying in intensity; it is delicate on the nose, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, hues of spices, aromatic herbs, and complexity deriving from the various grape varieties; it is dry and sapid on the palate, sometimes with evident tannins, and has good body. It can also be a semi-sparkling, Passito, Novello or liqueur wine. Campania PGI Rosato is pink, varying in intensity, tending towards cherry pink; it is delicately fruity on the nose; it is dry, harmonious, fresh on the palate, characteristic of the grape variety of origin. It can also be a semi-sparkling, Passito, Novello or liqueur wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Campania PGI with specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Campania region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. A maximum of 15% of grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Campania PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
