History
The tradition of the Brnenské Pivo PGI goes back in time when Queen Eliska Rejcka founded a Cistercian convent in Staré Brno which subsequently had a brewery built in 1325 with the assistance of the Velehrad monastery. The brewery has undergone a series of changes and modernisations, but the beer is nowadays produced in the historical tradition, at the modern brewery situated roughly on the site of the former convent brewery of the Cistercian Order.
Gastronomy
The Brnenské Pivo PGI is best consumed cool, in big glasses, and drunk slowly to enjoy its high quality.
Marketing
The product is sold as Brnenské Pivo PGI in the following types: alcohol-free beer, draught pale beer, draught dark beer, lager. It is sold in bottles and the draught beer in vapour-sterilised cans.
Distinctive Features
The varieties of the hops, with which the Brnenské Pivo PGI is produced, give the beer its typical, delicately bitterish flavour.
