Description of product typologies
Barbera del Monferrato Superiore PDO is ruby-red in colour, tending towards garnet with ageing; it is intense and characteristic on the nose, with accentuated notes of red fruit, cherry, mild spice, sometimes floral, tending towards ethereal with ageing; it is dry and full on the palate, with sharp fruity notes and sensations of cocoa and vanilla which become perfectly balanced over time. The minimum ageing period for the wine is 14 months, commencing November 1st of the harvest year, six months of which must be in wood. The vinification and ageing of Barbera del Monferrato Superiore PDO must be take place in the production area, although, taking traditional situations into account, these operations may also be carried out within the entire territory of the Piedmont region. In the designation and presentation of Barbera del Monferrato Superiore PDO, it is mandatory to display the grape production year on the label.
