Production Area
The production area of Aglianico del Taburno PDO is within the entire administrative territory of the municipalities of Apollosa, Bonea, Campoli del Monte Taburno, Castelpoto, Foglianise, Montesarchio, Paupisi, Torrecuso and Ponte, and parts of the territory of the municipalities of Benevento, Cautano, Vitulano and Tocco Caudio, all in the Province of Benevento, in the Campania region.
Description of product typologies
Aglianico del Taburno PDO Rosso is intense ruby-red; it displays decisive red fruity fragrances on the nose, including wild fruit, as well as aromatic herbs and spices, leather and coffee; it is warm, ample and full-bodied on the palate, with decisive and embracing tannins. A complex wine with depth and a long-lasting and persistent finish, offering hints of dried fruit and sweet spices. Before being released for consumption, Aglianico del Taburno PDO Rosso must undergo a mandatory ageing period of 2 years, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested. Riserva can be displayed on the label after a minimum of 3 years ageing, 12 months of which must be in wooden barrels and 6 months in the bottle, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced. Aglianico del Taburno PDO Rosato is light coral pink; the nose offers fragrances of rose, citrus fruit, such as lemon and orange, and fruit; it is fresh and persistent on the palate.
