Grape variety specifications
The Terre Alfieri PDO may display the specifications of the following grape varieties. From white grape varieties: min. 85% Arneis, pure or with the addition of non-aromatic grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. From red grape varieties: min. 85% Nebbiolo, pure or with the addition of non-aromatic grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. Terre Alfieri PDO Arneis has a straw-yellow colour with golden highlights; the nose bursts with sensations of delicate floral fragrances in harmony with hints of dried fruit and light vanilla; it is intense on the palate, reminiscent of white fleshy fruit and with a light almondy hint. It can display Vigna (Vineyard) on the label. Terre Alfieri PDO Nebbiolo has a characteristic ruby-red colour that tends towards garnet with aging; the nose is intense with small forest fruits ranging from raspberry to blackberry; it is dry and balanced on the palate, enriched with sensations of liquorice and pepper. It can display Vigna (Vineyard) on the label. Terre Alfieri PDO wines must be aged for a mandatory period of at least 4 months, with the option of using wooden recipients; the aging period commences November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested.
The Terre Alfieri PDO designation can be followed by Vigna (Vineyard) with the relative toponym.
