Description of product typologies
Faro PDO is deep yet bright ruby red, acquiring garnet red to brick-red reflections with ageing; the nose offers distinctive fragrances of jasmine, red fruit and blackcurrant on a spicy background, with evident sensations of cardamom and vanilla blending pleasantly with mineral notes of flint and lava, which is certainly in keeping with the “volcanic” nature of this wine; it is immediately dry, velvety and embracing on the palate, with an extremely elegant tannic vein that leads to a finish dominated by a long fruity persistence, in what is overall an incredibly balanced and structured flavour. Faro PDO must undergo a mandatory ageing period of at least one year, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested. Grapes destined for the vinification of Faro PDO wines must ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 11.5% vol.
