Production Area

The production area of Pellaro PGI is within the entire territory of the Municipality of Motta San Giovanni and the districts of Bocale, Lume di Pellaro, Macellari, Occhio di Pellaro, Oliveto, Paterriti, Pellaro, San Filippo and Valanidia in the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, in the Province of Reggio Calabria, in the Calabria region.

Blends

Red and rosé wines with the Pellaro PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, from one or more black grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Calabria region. Grapes originating from white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Calabria region, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. .

Description of product typologies

Pellaro PGI Rosso is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose is vinous, with aromas of ripe fruit and notes of rose, pansy and sweet spices; it is warm, intense and embracing on the palate, with good body and long persistence. Pellaro PGI Rosé is pink in colour, varying in intensity; the nose offers fragrances dried flowers and delicate aromatic notes; it is fresh, embracing, smooth and sapid on the palate, with a fruity finish. Pellaro PGI Novello has an intense red colour; the nose is pleasing, with evident fruity notes of raspberry and wild strawberry; it is harmonious and balanced on the palate, with notes typical of a young wine.
