The production area of Osco PGI or Terre degli Osci PGI is within the territory of the Province of Campobasso, in the Molise region.
Blends
White, red and rosé wines with the Osco PGI or Terre degli Osci PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Osco PGI or Terre degli Osci PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow in colour, varying in depth; the nose offers varying degrees of floral and fruity fragrances depending on the grape varieties used; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with fruity returns and good persistence. It can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling or Passito wine. Osco PGI or Terre degli Osci PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit such as raspberry, wild strawberry and blackcurrant, and traces of sweet spices; it is dry and velvety on the palate, at times with evident tannins. It can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling or Novello wine. Osco PGI or Terre degli Osci PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink in colour, varying in intensity; it is delicately fruity on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Osco PGI or Terre degli Osci PGI wines with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Molise region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Non-aromatic grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. Osco PGI or Terre degli Osci PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
