Description of product typologies
Moscato di Scanzo PDO or Scanzo PDO has a ruby-red colour, varying in intensity and at times tending towards cherry-red with garnet highlights; the nose is intense and rich with aromas, predominantly fruits of the forest, dried red roses and marasca; with aging, the fruity structure of the palate tends to assume a flavour of fruit compote and honey, with an aftertaste that suggests incense, cinnamon, liquorice, almond or flint. After harvesting, the grapes destined for the production of Moscato di Scanzo PDO or Scanzo PDO wines must be dried for at least 21 days in suitable environments, including thermo-conditioned or with forced ventilation; this is followed by an aging period of at least two years. The wine can be made available for consumption from November 1st of the second year following that in which the grapes were produced. The drying, vinification, mandatory aging and bottling processes must be carried out within the Municipality of Scanzorosciate.
