The Marmilla PGI is reserved for the following typologies of wine: White, Red, Rosé and Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

The production area of Marmilla PGI is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the provinces of Sud Sardegna and Oristano, in the Sardinia region.
Blends
White, red and rosé wines with the Marmilla PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Marmilla PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, ranges from paper-white to amber-yellow in colour; the nose offers varying degrees of floral and fruity fragrances depending on the grape varieties used; it varies from dry-to-sweet on the palate and is dry, fresh, with a slightly fruity flavour and good persistence. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Marmilla PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, has a smooth ruby-red colour, at times tending towards garnet; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, traces of spices and aromatic herbs and an aromatic complexity deriving from the grape varieties used; it varies from dry-to-sweet on the palate, at times with evident tannins and good body. It can also be Semi-Sparkling. Marmilla PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, varies from pale pink to deep pink in colour; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Marmilla PGI Novello, alone or with specification of grape variety, can be red with purplish highlights or ruby-red in colour; the nose is characteristic of a young wine and of the grape varieties used; it is dry or medium-sweet on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Marmilla PGI, with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Sardinia region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. Marmilla PGI with the specification of one of the authorised grape varieties can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling and Novello wines, the latter only for wines obtained from red grape varieties. Marmilla PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
