The production area of Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Modena, in the Emilia-Romagna region.

Blends

Red (Semi-Sparkling), Rosé (Semi-Sparkling), Red Spumante, Spumante Rosé: min. 85% Lambrusco Grasparossa, with the possible addition of other Lambrusco and Malbo Gentile grapes, individually or combined, max. 15%.

Description of product typologies

Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Rosso Frizzante is ruby-red in colour with violet reflections and evanescent foam with hems of the same hue; the nose is complex and winy, deep, fruity, bringing to mind the grape aroma; it is pleasantly acidulous on the palate with an aftertaste of dried fruits. Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Rosato Frizzante is pink in colour, varying in intensity and with lively and sparkling foam; the nose is pleasing and rich with suggestions of fruit; it is dry, medium-sweet or medium-dry, semi-sweet or sweet on the palate, fresh and rich with sapidity. Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Spumante Rosso is intense ruby-red in colour with lively foam; the ample and complex nose is gentle and rich with floral notes; it is dry, medium-sweet or medium-dry, semi-sweet or sweet on the palate, fresh and rich with sapidity.Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Spumante Rosato is pink in colour, varying in intensity and with lively and sparkling foam; the nose is rich with fruity suggestions; it is dry, medium-sweet or medium-dry, semi-sweet or sweet on the palate, fresh and rich with sapidity.The vinification and preparation of sparkling and semi-sparkling wines must take place within the territory of the Province of Modena. Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Spumante and Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Frizzante wines must be obtained by natural fermentation/secondary fermentation in bottles or natural fermentation/secondary fermentation in autoclaves, according to European and national regulations.

Additional specifications

It is mandatory for Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Frizzante and Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Spumante wines to display the residual sugar content on the label. Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Frizzante and Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro PDO Spumante rosé wines must display “Rosé” on the label.
