Blends
White, red and rosé wines with the Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is yellow in colour, at times tending towards golden or greenish; the nose displays varying degrees of fruity fragrances depending on the grape variety used; on the palate it is dry and fresh, with a slightly fruity flavour and good persistence. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity and tending towards garnet with aging; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, traces of spices and aromatic herbs and with a balsamic complexity deriving from the grape variety used; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body and at times evident tannins. It can also be Semi-Sparkling and Novello wine. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is cherry-pink in colour, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape variety of origin. It can also be Semi-Sparkling and Passito wine. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Passito Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is red in colour, varying in intensity and tending towards garnet with aging; the nose offers fruity hints; it is sweet and harmonious on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI, with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lazio region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI wine must be obtained from at least 85% grapes originating from the Cesanese Comune and/or Cesanese di Affile grape varieties; grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lazio region, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned wines. The Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI with specification of two or three grape varieties is reserved for wines obtained from corresponding grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from the indicated grape varieties and that the indications are displayed on the label in descending order, in respect to the actual contribution of the grape.Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
