Production Area
The production area of Fortana del Taro PGI is within the entire territory of the Province of Parma, in the Emilia-Romagna region.
Blends
Red (including Frizzante), Novello: min. 85% Fortana (locally known as Fortanella or Uva d’Oro or Fortanina). The addition of grapes, individually or combined, originating from black grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Emilia-Romagna region is permitted in the production of the wines and musts, max 15%.
Description of product typologies
Fortana del Taro PGI Rosso is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, traces of spices and aromatic herbs and with a balsamic complexity deriving from the grape variety used; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body and at times evident tannins. Fortana del Taro PGI Novello is clear ruby-red in colour; the fruity fragrances on the nose are typical of young wines; it is dry, medium-sweet or semi-sweet on the palate.Artificial gasification is not permitted for Fortana del Taro PGI Frizzante (Semi-Sparkling) wines.
