The production area of Esino PDO is within the territory of the numerous municipalities of in the provinces of Ancona and Macerata, in The Marches region.
Blends
White (incl. Semi-Sparkling): min. 50% Verdicchio, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 50%.Red, Novello: min. 60% Sangiovese and/or Montepulciano, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 40%.
Description of product typologies
Esino PDO Bianco is straw-yellow in colour with light greenish highlights; the nose is characteristic, bursting with floral fragrance and freshness, with fruity sensations of white fruit if the wine is consumed within its first year; it is dry on the palate. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine.Esino PDO Rosso is deep ruby-red in colour with traces of purple; a fruity freshness on the nose reveals fragrances of cherry and marasca, and a violet finish ends with a touch of mint and sweet vanilla; it is dry on the palate, with good tannins. Esino PDO Novello is ruby-red in colour; the nose is light and fragrant; it is dry, velvety and harmonious on the palate. Grapes destined for the vinification of Red and White wines must ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 10%, whereas for Semi-Sparkling wines the minimum natural alcohol level must be 9,5%.
