Description of product typologies
Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba PDO or Diano d’Alba PDO is intense ruby-red in colour with purplish highlights; the floral and fruity nose is emphasised with marasca cherry and at times blackberry, with a delicate white peppery finish and possible hints of wood; it is dry and tense on the palate, influenced by a varietal aftertaste of bitter almond and vague suggestions of minerals. It can display Superiore on the label if it has undergone a minimum aging period of 10 months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were picked. Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba PDO or Diano d’Alba PDO wines can be made available for consumption from January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced; Superiore wines can be put on the market from September 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were harvested.
