The Trevenezie PGI ("Tri Benečije PGI" in Slovenian) is reserved for the following typologies of wine: White, Red, Rosé (incl. Semi-sparkling) and Red Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.
Production Area
The production area of Trevenezie PGI is within the entire territory of the provinces of Belluno, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Venice, Verona and Vicenza, in the Veneto region; of the provinces of Pordenone, Udine, Gorizia and Trieste in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
Blends
White, red and rosé wines with the Trevenezie PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Trevenezie PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow in colour, varying in depth; the nose offers various floral and fruity sensations depending on the grape variety used; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with good aromatic persistence. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Trevenezie PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit and traces of spices, aromatic herbs, as well as characteristics deriving from the grape varieties used ; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body and, at times, evident tannins. It can also be Semi-Sparkling and Novello wine. Trevenezie PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink in colour, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; the palate is dry, harmonious and fresh, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Trevenezie PGI, with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Province of Trento and the Veneto region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Non-aromatic grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. The Trevenezie PGI with the specification of one or more grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Non-aromatic grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the provinces of Udine, Pordenone, Gorizia and Trieste, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. Trevenezie PGI wines with specification of one of the grape varieties may also be produced as Semi-Sparkling and Novello wines, exclusively with red grape varieties. Trevenezie PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
