Production Area
The production area of Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Provinces of Padua and Venice, in the Veneto region.
Blends
White: min. 50% Friulano, max. 50% Pinot Bianco and/or Pinot Grigio and/or Chardonnay and/or Sauvignon. Red, Rosé, Novello: 60-70% Merlot, min. 10% Raboso Piave e/o Veronese, max. 30% Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Carmenère and/or Refosco.Passito: min. 70% Moscato Giallo, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 30%.
Description of product typologies
Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Bianco is straw-yellow in colour; the nose displays fragrances that range from dominant aromas of white and yellow flowers to freshly cut grass and fresh fruit; the palate offers smooth and warm flavours that are more intense and structured with aging. Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Rosso has a ruby-red colour that becomes darker and more intense with aging; the nose ranges from floral and fruity aromas to notes of wood (if aged in barrels), vanilla, roasted seeds and spices; the palate displays a dry and velvety structure, with moderate tannins and good persistence. Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Rosé is pink to ruby-red in colour; it is pleasantly vinous on the nose; the palate is dry and harmonious. It must be obtained from rosé vinification of red grapes. Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Passito is intense straw to golden-yellow in colour; the nose is characteristic of Passito, aromatic and fine; it is semi-sweet or sweet and harmonious on the palate. The grapes used for the production of Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Passito (from Moscato Giallo grapes) cannot be mashed before December 31st of the year in which the grapes were produced. Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Novello has a good ruby-red colour; the nose is fragrant, fine and characteristic; it is dry, at times medium-sweet, velvety and harmonious on the palate. Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Novello wine must be obtained with a minimum of 40% grapes that have undergone a carbonic maceration process.
Grape variety specifications
The Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO may display the specifications of the following grape varieties. From white grape varieties: min. 85% Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay (incl. Spumante and Semi-Sparkling), Sauvignon, Tai, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.From red grape varieties: min. 85% Merlot, Cabernet (Franc and/or Sauvignon and/or Carmenère) (incl. Riserva), Cabernet Sauvignon, Raboso (Piave and/or Veronese) (incl. Riserva and Passito), Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso (incl. Riserva), pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Spumante and Corti Benedettine del Padovano PDO Frizzante (Semi-Sparkling) wines must be obtained exclusively with natural fermentation in bottles or autoclaves.
