White, red and rosé wines with the Colline del Genovesato PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Colline del Genovesato PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is yellow in colour, varying in intensity; it is delicate on the nose, with varying degrees of floral and fruity fragrances, depending on the different grape varieties used; on the palate it is dry and fresh, with a slightly fruity flavour. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Colline del Genovesato PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, hues of spices and aromatic herbs and aromatic elegance deriving from the various grape varieties used; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Colline del Genovesato PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink in colour, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with characteristics of the grape varieties of origin.It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Colline del Genovesato PGI Rosso Passito, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour; it is intense and persistent on the nose; the palate is balanced.Colline del Genovesato PGI Novello, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red colour, varying in intensity; it is vinous on the nose; the palate is fresh and balanced.
Grape variety specifications
The Colline del Genovesato PGI, with the specification of one of the grape varieties Granaccia and Pigato suitable for cultivation in the Liguria region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned wines. Colline del Genovesato PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
