Production Area

The production area of Collina Torinese PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Turin, in the Piedmont region.

Blends

Red, Novello: min. 60% Barbera, min. 25% Freisa, pure or with the addition of non-aromatic grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%.

Description of product typologies

Collina Torinese PDO Rosso is medium ruby-red in colour, varying in depth; the nose displays fruity fragrances of blueberry and blackberry, with hints of white pepper; it is fresh and fruity on the palate, with a slightly almondy finish. Collina Torinese PDO Novello Rosso is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose releases fruity and floral hints; it is dry and harmonious on the palate, with a good aromatic consistence.

Grape variety specifications

The Collina Torinese PDO may display the specifications of the following grape varieties. From red grape varieties: min. 85% Barbera, Bonarda, Malvasia di Schierano and/or Malvasia nera lunga, Pelaverga or Cari, pure or with the addition of non-aromatic grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. Collina Torinese PDO Barbera has an intense ruby-red colour and a characteristic vinous aroma; it is dry, fresh, harmonious and full-bodied on the palate. Collina Torinese PDO Bonarda has a light ruby-red colour and is vinous and intense on the nose; it is dry and characteristic on the palate. Collina Torinese PDO Malvasia has a cherry-red colour and is fresh and fragrant on the nose; it is sweet and slightly aromatic on the palate. Collina Torinese PDO Pelaverga or Cari has a cherry-red colour; the nose offers fragrances of the grape of origin and it is sweet, pleasant and characteristic on the palate.
