The production area of Collina del Milanese PGI is within the Municipality of San Colombano al Lambro in the Province of Milan; the municipalities of Graffignana, Sant’Angelo Lodigiano in the Province of Lodi; Inverno e Monteleone, Miradolo Terme in the Province of Pavia, in the Lombardy region.
Blends
White, red and rosé wines with the Collina del Milanese PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Collina del Milanese PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow in colour, varying in depth; it offers various degrees of floral and fruity fragrances on the nose, depending on the different grape varieties used; on the palate it is harmonious, at times mouth-filling, fresh and young, still or lively. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Collina del Milanese PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red in colour, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, hues of spices and aromatic herbs and aromatic elegance deriving from the various grape varieties used; the palate is dry or mouth-filling, sapid, fresh and young, still or lively. It can also be Semi-Sparkling or Novello wine. Collina del Milanese PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink in colour, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Collina del Milanese PGI Passito is golden yellow in colour, varying in intensity or slightly amber; it displays delicate and aromatic fragrances on the nose; on the palate it is sweet, harmonious and velvety.
Grape variety specifications
The Collina del Milanese PGI, with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lombardy region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. Collina del Milanese PGI wines with the specification of one of the grape varieties may also be produced as Semi-Sparkling.Collina del Milanese PGI Passito wine must be obtained from grapes originating from one or more aromatic grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lombardy region; if the Collina del Milanese PGI Passito wine is produced with at least 85% of the Verdea grape variety, reference to the grape may be displayed on the label. Collina del Milanese PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
